Windows XP Tweaks

I had a problem with not being able to list files from my cds on my new laptops dvd drive (with winxp home). I could play files from the cds but not browse files on the cd. After intstalling ASPI drivers it all worked fine. Hope it helps someone else.

This tweak will enable the processor on your Network Card(if your card has one - 3Com,what about the other i'm not sure you have to find out) designed to offload network processing from the CPU.

The tweak is simple. Beside the QoS and others around the Internet for the new XP OS, I found out that native drivers sometimes slow you down (cable and xDSL users).

Only the webmaster has to know about every single script error.  To turn off the error messages that pop-up, do this:

Set your default page to about:mozilla and IE will show a nice blue screen upon startup.

When you connect to another computer with Windows XP, it checks for any Scheduled tasks on that computer - a fairly useless task, but one that can add up to 30 seconds of waiting on the other end - not good! Fortunately.

After reading several tweaks about DSL, I began to think about line quality more than the computer itself.

Iv'e personally found a dramatic increase in web browsing after clearing the Windows XP DNS cache. To clear it type the following in a command prompt: ipconfig /flushdns

This tweak will speed up your network to the speeds you thought you were getting.  It is dependant on the network equipment that you are using, so please see the oppropriate section.
